How do I add a thumbnail/outline?

A step-by-step guide on how to access your Thumbnails & Outlines in the Lumin editor.

Note: Our Bookmarks feature has now been replaced and renamed as Outlines.

  1. Open your document.

  2. From the ribbon toolbar, click the dropdown arrow.

  3. This will show the Thumbnails and Outlines sections.

How do Thumbnails work?

You can use the standard annotation tools provided by Lumin in this section.

You can:

  • Move pages to the top or bottom.

  • Move the page to a different page number.

  • Rotate left or right.

  • Insert blank pages above or below.

  • Delete the page.

You can also select all of the pages in the document and use the same tools above to apply bulk actions.

Note: Use your keyboard commands of Cmd/Ctrl-click and Shift-click to multi-select pages.

You can also move one or multiple pages to a specific position while maintaining stable page order.

    1. Hover over the page you want to move.

    2. Click the 3 dots.

    3. Click Move to...

    4. Enter the destination page number for the selected page.

    5. Click Move.

    How do Outlines work?

You can add an Outline to a specific part of your document that you want quick access to.

    1. Highlight the section of the document that you want quick access to.

    2. Click the Outlines symbol.

    3. Create a title and review the destination page.

    4. Click Add.

    5. The Outline will be added. Whenever you want to fast-track to this specific location in the document, you can click on this outline, and it will take you there.

You can also add more outlines, add a sub-outline, edit, and delete the outline.

    1. Hover over the number on the right-hand side of the outline and click the 3 dots.

    2. A pop-up will show where you can complete these tasks.

Note: You can resize the Thumbnail and Outlines sidebar to your liking.

Click and drag your mouse to resize the left panel.

This gives larger thumbnails and more readable outline content.
