Highlight text by using the easy-to-use highlight tool or the text tool.
Use the Highlight tool to add a colored highlight over text. Use the Underline tool to put colored underlining or strike-through on text.
Highlight tool
Method One:
- Select the Highlight option on the toolbar.
- Select your desired color from the drop-down icon
- Drag your cursor along the text you want to highlight.
Method Two:
1. Click the Select option on the toolbar
2. Drag the cursor over your selected text, and select either the Copy, Highlight, Underline, Squiggly, or Strikeout option.
Underline tool
Method One:
- Select the Underline dropdown option on the toolbar.
- Select the text option you want:
- Underline
- Squiggly underline
- Strike-through

Method Two:
1. Click the Select option on the toolbar
2. Drag the cursor over your selected text, and select either the Copy, Highlight, Underline, Squiggly, or Strikeout option.
Edit your highlight
- Click on your highlight. It becomes highlighted by a dotted line, and a toolbar appears.
- Drag the dots to increase or decrease the size of the highlight.
- Use the toolbar to comment, change the style, or delete the highlight.
Note: text tools do not work in a .jpeg or .png (image) document. To underline text on images, use the line from the Shape tools.
Note: you can easily view, navigate to, and comment on all highlighted sections added to a document by opening the Panel and selecting the Notes section.


- Click inside a listed highlight in the Panel to add a reply note to the highlight.
- Click inside a listed highlight in the Panel, then click the three dots that appear on the right to Edit (add a comment) or Delete it. (Deleting it in the panel will also delete it from the document.)
Tip: You can select the Highlight and other text tools using keyboard shortcuts
