How do I prepare my document for signing?

To ensure a successful document signing, it is crucial to properly prepare your document. In this article, we will guide you on how to effectively accomplish this step.

NOTE: If you upload a template from our template library or anywhere else, and it contains sections that need to be filled in, Lumin Sign's editor will automatically identify these sections and assign them to the signer(s).

When preparing your document, you can request signers for the following information:


Signature

  1. To begin, select the option Signature from the side menu bar.
  2. Then, use your cursor and select where in the document they need to sign.
  3. Next, you have the flexibility to adjust the size of the signature field to suit your preferences.

Initial

  1. To begin, select the option Initial from the side menu bar.
  2. Then, use your cursor and select where in the document they need to add their initials.
  3. Next, you have the flexibility to adjust the size of the initials field to suit your preferences.

Text

  1. To begin, select the option Text from the side menu bar.
  2. Then, use your cursor and select where in the document they need to add text.
  3. Next, you have the flexibility to adjust the size of the initials field to suit your preferences.

Date

  1. To begin, select the option Date from the side menu bar.
  2. Then, use your cursor and select where in the document they need to add text.
  3. You can then adjust the behavior of this field and set:
    1. Auto-fill signing date: The date is auto-filled based on the recipient’s time zone when they sign the document.
    2. Date format

Settings:

  • To require completion of any field, simply click on the field and check the box. This will ensure that the signer must fill in the required information.
  • If there are multiple signers involved, it is important to assign the appropriate field to each signer to ensure accuracy and completion.
