How do I use text-to-speech in Lumin?

The read-aloud feature enables users to hear the text from their documents using advanced text-to-speech technology.

NOTE: Any Lumin premium plans offer a wider variety of voice options, while the read-aloud feature is accessible across all Lumin plans.

This feature is not available when using Lumin in offline mode or the Lumin Mobile app.

Enabling text-to-speech:

  1. Open a document in Lumin. 
  2. In the toolbar, select the Read-aloud tool. 
    1. Click the Play button to initiate the reading of your document’s contents.
    2. Press the Previous or Next button to go back or forward a sentence.
    3. Select this option to adjust the reading speed to your preference.
  3. Press Play to begin, or highlight the section where you want the reading to start.

WARNING: When the read-aloud feature is active, manually scrolling through the document will disable the auto-scroll function.

To update the voice settings:

In the toolbar, select the Read-aloud tool, then click Voice settings.

Language: Change the language for voice options (voice only).

Voice name: Select from a diverse range of voice choices.

Speed: Adjust the reading speed to suit your preference

Pitch: Modify the pitch of the voice for a personalized experience

Once you have adjusted the settings to your liking, click the Sample Preview button to listen to a demonstration of the selected voice.
