Once an agreement has been sent for signature, you cannot edit it.
As soon as the signature request goes out through Lumin Sign, you cannot go back into the agreement to change information.
Why can't I edit after sending for signature?
Security. Every signer needs to know that the version they're reviewing is the exact version they're signing. Allowing edits after the request is sent would break that guarantee.
Preventing bad actors. If a document could still be changed mid-flight, anyone with access, including someone who isn't supposed to have it, could alter terms, amounts, or clauses after a signer has already reviewed them, without the signer ever knowing.
Legal enforceability. Signatures are only meaningful if they're tied to a fixed, unchanging document. Locking the file preserves the audit trail Lumin Sign relies on to prove what was actually signed.
Trust between parties. Both senders and signers need confidence that nothing shifts behind the scenes after signing begins. Locking the document protects everyone in the agreement.
What you can do
Even though the agreement content itself is uneditable, you're not stuck if something needs to change:
Delete the signature request. If no one has signed yet, you can delete the agreement from Lumin Sign, and the signers will no longer be able to access the agreement via the notification link.
Go back to AgreementGen or Lumin PDF and edit the original draft. You can head back to the original document to make the needed edits.
Send a new signature request. Once your edits are done, request signatures again. This creates a fresh, correct version for everyone to sign.
NOTE: If one or more signers have already signed, cancelling and editing means starting the signing process over from zero. Previously collected signatures won't carry over to the new version.
